How to Send a Dialer Post-Call Text on the App

Dialer post-call texts allow you to send a no-reply text message to your patient after a Dialer Voice or Video call in the Doximity app.

You can use post-call texts to send a follow-up message, ask the patient to reschedule, share your business card, or create a reusable text template.

Important Notes

  • Post-call texts are no-reply messages.
  • Post-call texts are available after Dialer Voice and Video calls on iOS and Android.
  • You can send a post-call text whether the patient joined the call or missed the call.
  • You can create custom templates for messages you send frequently.

Sending a Post-Call Text After a Patient Joins the Call

To send a post-call text after a completed Dialer call:

  • Start a Dialer Voice or Video call in the Doximity app on your iPhone or Android device.
  • Complete your call with the patient.
  • Hang up the Voice or Video call.
  • On the call summary screen, tap Send Text in the bottom-left corner.
  • From the Texts menu, select one of the available text options.

From the Texts menu, you can:

  • Tap Compose to write a new text message.
  • Tap + Create custom template to create a reusable text template.
  • Tap Send my business card to send your digital business card.
  • Select one of the suggested templates, such as:
    • I’ll try again soon
    • Please Reschedule
    • Schedule Follow-up
    • Thank you note
  • After selecting a suggested template, you will see a preview of the message. You can edit the message before sending it.

  • When you are ready to send your post-call text, tap the blue arrow in the upper-right corner.

Sending Your Business Card

  • You can also send your patient a digital business card by tapping Send my business card.

  • Your business card will display your office name and Caller ID phone number. You can edit these details before sending.

  • When you are ready to send your business card, tap the blue arrow in the upper-right corner.

Sending a Post-Call Text if the Patient Does Not Join

If your patient does not join your Dialer Voice or Video call, you will still see the option to send a no-reply text message from the call summary screen.

To send a text after a missed call:

  1. End the Dialer Voice or Video call.
  2. Tap Send Text in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Compose your message or select one of the available text options.
  4. Tap the blue arrow in the upper-right corner to send the message.

Creating a Custom Text Template

If you frequently send the same message to patients, you can save it as a custom template.

To create a custom template:

  • Tap + Create custom template.
  • Enter a name for your template.
  • Add your message text.
  • Save the template.

Once saved, your custom template will appear in the list of available text options after future Dialer calls.

You can manage your templates from Dialer settings by tapping the Settings icon in the upper-left corner of the Dialer tab.

Can I See if My Patient Has Read My Text?

Yes. Once your patient reads your text message, you will receive a notification if notifications are enabled on your device.

Please note: Enabling notifications will turn on notifications for all Doximity features. At this time, there is not a separate notification setting for Dialer texting only.

You can also view your text history to see whether a text message was:

  • Delivered
  • Failed to send
  • Read by the patient
  • Unsent
  • Replied (For one-time reply enabled text messages only)
