How To Send A Text on the App
- Enter the recipient’s phone number on the Dialer dial pad.
- Tap the green Text button (located in the bottom-left corner of the dial pad)

Compose your message:
- On iOS: You will be taken directly to the text composition screen.
- On Android: Tap the blue Send Text button in the bottom-right corner to compose your message.
- To attach a file, tap the paper clip icon
- You can send texts to up to 12 patients at a time.
Allowing a One-Time Patient Reply
If you would like to allow patients to send a one-time reply to your message, toggle on Allow one-time reply and select a reply window between 1–24 hours.
Sending Your Message
- Send your message. Once your message is ready:
- On iOS: Tap the blue arrow in the bottom-right corner.
- On Android: Tap the blue arrow in the upper-right corner.
NOTE: Patient replies must be reviewed within 7 days of receiving them.
How to Create a New Text Template on the App
- Navigate to the Dialer tab in the Doximity app
- Tap on the Dialer tab, then tap on the Settings icon
iOS users - Settings icon is located in the top left of the Dialer page
Android users - Settings icon is located in the upper right-hand corner
- Tap on Texts or Text settings
- NOTE: On Android, you will need to tap on 'Text templates'
- Tap Create custom template or Add custom template
NOTE: Make sure to add a template name, or you won't be able to save the custom template.
- When you’re done creating your template, tap the checkmark in the upper-right corner to save your changes
How to Disable a Sent Text on The App
- Navigate to the Dialer tab in the Doximity app
- Tap on the History tab or Clock icon in the upper right-hand corner
- Tap on the Text tab
- Tap the text preview to open the full message thread, then press and hold the message you want to unsend
- Next, tap on the Unsend button
- Once completed, the message will display as Unsent in your Dialer Text History
- When the patient clicks the link in the received text, they will see the following message:
"This message has expired. Please call the office for more information."
How to Send A Text on the Doximity Website (Desktop)
- On your computer, go to doximity.com/dialer/home
- Enter your patient’s phone number
- Click the green Text icon
- A message box will appear. From here, you can write a custom message or personalize one of the available text templates.
Additional Text Options
- To send the same message to multiple patients, click Add more recipients and enter the additional phone numbers.
- You can send texts to up to 12 patients at a time.
- To attach a file, click Add attachment beneath the message box.
- To allow the patient to submit a one-time reply, toggle on Allow one-time reply within 24h.
- To schedule the text for later, click Send Now and choose your desired send time.
Sending Your Message
Once your message is finalized, click the blue Send button.
How to Create a New Text Template on Desktop
- On the Doximity website, go to the Dialer tab on the left side of the screen
- Click Settings, located in the bottom-left corner of the screen
- Scroll down to the Your Text Templates section
- Click the gray Plus button to create a new template
- Enter a template name and add your custom message
- Click Save to create your new template
NOTE: Make sure to add a template name, or you won't be able to save the custom template.
Editing an Existing Template
- You can edit a saved template at any time by clicking the gray Pencil button next to the template you would like to update
How to Disable a Sent Text on the Doximity Website (Desktop)
- Click on the Dialer tab on the left side of the screen
- Under the Dialer tab, you’ll see the options Video, Voice, and Text.
- Select Text to view your message history.
- On the left side of the page, select the text message you wish to unsend in your message history.
- Click on the text preview to open the full message thread
- Hover your mouse over the body of the text message you want to cancel until you see two icons appear to the left of the message.
- Select the Unsend icon (left-pointing arrow) to cancel the text.
- When prompted, click on the Cancel Text button to confirm
- Once completed, the message will display as Cancelled in your Dialer Text History
NOTE: You will need to refresh the page to see the status change from Delivered to Cancelled.
- When the patient clicks the link in the received text, they will see the following message:
"This message has expired. Please contact your provider for more information."
What Your Patient Will See When Receiving the Text
- Your patient will receive a text message with a link to view the secure message.
- Text messages can be viewed by patients up to 5 times before they expire
- For the first hour, patients will be able to automatically view text messages by tapping on the link they receive
- After 1 hour, patients will be required to enter the last four digits of their phone number in order to view the text message
- If the patient incorrectly enters the last four digits of their phone number more than 5 times, the text message will automatically expire
NOTE: All messages will expire after 7 days.
- Patients can also tap on the Translate button to view their texts in a different language.
- Tapping Translate will display a list of all available translation languages in a drop-down menu.
One-time Reply Text Message
Enabling this option allows patients to send a one-time reply to your text message.
After submitting their reply, the patient will see the following message
NOTE: Replies are limited to a single response and are available for 1–24 hours, depending on your one-time reply text message settings.

1) Can I customize the text I send?
Yes. You can compose a custom message or personalize one of our prebuilt templates.
2) Is there a way to see if my patient has read my text?
Yes, once your patient reads your text message, you can view your text history when a text has been delivered, failed to send, or read by the patient. To learn how to view your text history, click this link HERE.
