How To Send A Text on the App

  • Type in a number on your dialer dial pad.
  • Tap the green 'Send text' button at the bottom left of the dial pad.
  • Select the template you would like to use.
  • You can edit any template.
  • You can also draft a custom message instead of selecting a template by tapping on the blue 'Compose' or 'Send text' button.
  • You can send texts to up to 12 patients at a time.

Please note, that you can attach a file by tapping on the 'paper clip' icon.

  • If you would like to enable the option for patients to send a one-time reply to your text, tap the toggle button next to the option 'Allow one-time reply within 1 to 24 hours' or 'Allow a one-time reply'.
  •  Next, send the text to the patient. 

Please note, you must review the patient's reply within 7 days of receiving the response.

 

How to Create a New Text Template on the App

  • Navigate to the 'Dialer' tab in the Doximity app.
  • Tap on the 'Menu Icon' or 'Settings' icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Tap on 'Texts' or 'Text settings'.

Note on Android you will need to tap on 'Text Templates'.

  • Tap 'Add custom template'.

Make sure to add a template name or you won't be able to save the custom template.

  • Once finished with creating the template, tap on 'Save' or the 'checkmark' in the upper right corner.

How to Disable a Sent Text on The App

  • Navigate to the 'Dialer' tab in the Doximity app.
  • For iOS, tap on 'History' located in the upper left corner.
  • For Android, tap on 'Clock' located in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Tap on the 'Text' tab.
  • Tap on the text that you wish to unsend.
  • Tap on the 'Unsend' or 'Undo Send' button.

Your text will then show that it has been 'Unsent'.

  • When the patient clicks the link in the received text, they will see the following message:

"This message has expired. Please contact your provider for more information."

How to Send A Text on Desktop

  • Visit doximity.com/dialer/home on your computer.
  • Enter your patient’s phone number.
  • Click on the green 'Text' icon.

You will see a message box appear where you can either send the patient a custom message or choose one of the text templates that we offer.

  • If you would like to send a one-time reply to the patient, click the box next to 'Allow one-time reply within 1 to 24 hours'.

You can also send a text to up to 12 patients at a time by selecting 'Send this text to more patients'. You will then be prompted to enter the patient's phone number.

  • Once you have the message that you would like to send, click on the blue 'Send Text' button.

  • Click on 'Settings'.

  • Click 'Add Template'.

Make sure to add a template name or you won't be able to save the custom template.

  • Add your new template and click 'Save'.
  • You can edit a saved template at any time by clicking 'Edit' next to the title of the template you would like to update. 

How to Disable a Sent Text on Desktop

  • Navigate to the 'Dialer' tab on the Doximity website.
  • Click on the 'Text' tab.
  • Click on the text that you wish to unsend.
  • Click 'Cancel'.

  • Click on the 'Cancel Text' button.

  • When the patient clicks the link in the received text, they will see the following message:

"This message has expired. Please contact your provider for more information."

 

What Your Patient Will See When Receiving the Text

  • Your patient will receive a text message with a link to view the secure message.

  • Text messages can be viewed by patients up to 5 times before they expire.
  • For the first hour, patients will be able to automatically view text messages by tapping on the link they receive.
  • After 1 hour patients will be required to enter the last four digits of their phone number in order to view the text message.
  • If the patient incorrectly enters the last four digits of their phone number more than 5 times the text message will automatically expire.

NOTE: All messages will expire after 7 days.

 

One-time Reply Text Message

If enabled, your patient will also be able to reply to your one-time reply text message.

Patients can also tap on the 'Translate' button to view the text in a different language.

They will see a drop-down menu of the languages that they can translate the text in.

If the patient decides to send a reply, they will receive the following message once their reply has been sent.

Please note, that the patient can only reply once and will have between to 1 to 24 hours to reply to your text depending on your one-time reply text message settings.

1) Can I customize the text I send? 

Yes, you can send a custom text by writing out your own message, or by customizing one of the templates that we offer.

2) Is there a way to see if my patient has read my text?

Yes, once your patient reads your text message, you can view your text history when a text has been delivered, failed to send, or read by the patient. To learn how to view your text history, click this link HERE.
