Custom Backgrounds on Dialer Video for the App

We now offer the option to add a custom background while on a Dialer video call from the app. To see how the feature works follow the steps below.

How to Access Custom Backgrounds

Note: All users have to be using an eligible device and be operating on Doximity version 15.8.0 or later in order to access mobile custom backgrounds.

  • Start a Dialer video call in the Doximity app
  • Tap on the 'backdrop' icon
  • Tap on the background you would like to use during your video call
  • Tap 'Save' in the upper right-hand corner

Please note, there is no Blur background option at this time for iOS users.

Android

  • Start a Dialer video call in the Doximity app
  • Tap on the 'Background' icon
  • Tap on the background you would like to use during your video call

How to Upload a Custom Background

You can also upload your own image that you would like to use during a video call.

iOS

  • Start a Dialer video call in the Doximity app
  • Tap on the 'backdrop' icon
  • Tap on the (+) icon
  • Tap on 'Save'

This will open up the photos that you have already saved on your phone.

  • Tap on the image that you would like to use
  • Tap on 'Choose' in the bottom right corner
  • Make sure your custom background is selected and then tap on 'Save'

Android

  • Start a Dialer video call in the Doximity app
  • Tap on the 'Background' icon
  • Tap on the '+ Add' icon
  • Tap on 'Files' or 'Photos'

This will open up the photos that you have already saved on your phone.

  • Tap on the image that you would like to use
  • Your customer background will now be an option that you can select to use during video calls

 

How to Remove or Change Your Custom Background

iOS

  • Tap on the 'backdrop' icon
  • The background style you are currently using will be selected and highlighted in blue
  • Tap on the 'X' in the upper corner of the selected custom background to remove that image
  • If you do not want a custom background, tap ‘None’ or select a different background that we have provided

Android

  • Tap on the 'Background' icon
  • The background style you are currently using will be selected and highlighted in blue
  • Tap on the '...' in the upper right corner of the selected custom background to remove that image
  • Tap on 'Delete'
  • If you do not want a custom background, tap ‘None’or select a different background that we have provided

 

FAQ’s

1) How can I ensure the custom backgrounds work the best?

  • A strong network connection
  • Your actual background matches the color scheme in your desired custom background. (i.e. in a light-filled room or background, choose a light custom background to ensure the best results).

Note: Running too many programs at once or screen sharing may make the call slower.

 

2) What operating system supports custom backgrounds?

Any iOS device running iOS version 17.0 or later and any Android device running Android OS version 7.1.
