Receive Patient Photo & File Attachments
Doximity users can now allow patients to send photos or file attachments in their HIPAA-secure text message replies.
When enabled, patients can attach images or files directly to their secure messages, making it easier to share relevant information with their provider.
How To Enable Patient Text Attachments
You can enable or disable patient attachments at any time in Dialer settings.
iOS and Android
- Open up the Doximity application on your phone and tap on the Dialer tab
- Tap on the Settings icon
- iOS users - Settings icon is located in the top left of the Dialer page
- Android users - Settings icon is located in the upper right-hand corner
- Tap on Texts or Text settings
- Next, tap the Toggle button next to Allow Patient Attachments (or Allow patients to include a file/photo attachment when replying to your dialer texts)
- When enabled, the toggle will change from gray to dark blue
Desktop
- Log in to your Doximity profile
- Click on the Dialer tab (located on the left side of the screen)
- Click on the Settings button (located in the bottom left of the screen)
- Scroll down to Allow patient attachments
- Click the toggle button next to Allow patient attachments. When enabled, the toggle will change from gray to green
NOTE - If you are covered by a Dialer Enterprise paid subscription and do not see the option to enable patient attachments, please contact your hospital or clinic administrator. They can reach out to Doximity to have this feature enabled for your organization.
Viewing Patient Attachments
iOS and Android
- Open Dialer
- Navigate to History
- iOS users - History is located in the top right of the Dialer page.
- Android users - History can be accessed by tapping the clock icon in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tap the Text you wish to review
- Tapping on a text will open the message thread
- Tap the attachment to view it
NOTE: Text Messages are retained for a period of 7 days, after which both the message and any related attachments will no longer be accessible.
Desktop
- Click on the Dialer tab (located on the left side of the screen)
- Click on the Text tab
- In the column on the left side of the page, click on the Text you wish to review
- Selecting a text will open the message thread
- Click on the attachment to view it
- Clicking on the attachment will open the file or photo in a new tab
