The Dialer Video Closed Captioning feature shows real-time, on-screen text of the conversation during a Dialer video visit.
It's built for Enterprise clients, especially for patients who are hard of hearing or are reaching out from a noisy environment, and clinicians who want a more accessible visit.
Only the clinician can turn it on or off; when they do, both sides of the call see captions.
A few notes:
- English only.
- Captions disappear after about 3 seconds of silence.
- This is expected — they're not meant to persist as a transcript, just to caption active speech.
- Captions won't show in Picture-in-Picture mode on mobile.
- This is intentional, for privacy — captioned text isn't shown when the app is minimized to a floating window.
