Troubleshooting Patient Audio Issues on Android During Video Appointments

Some Android users experience issues hearing their provider during a video appointment received via a Doximity Dialer invite. The most common cause is the wrong volume setting.

On Android devices, pressing the volume button typically adjusts the phone call volume — not the volume used for video played in a browser.

If you press the 'Up' volume button, you will see the following icon:

For Videos in a Browser setting, your patients need to increase the 'MEDIA Volume', which is what controls sound in your web browser.

To Adjust The Media Volume:

  • Press 'Up' on your device's Volume button
  • When the volume bar shows up, tap the 'three dots' or settings icon.
  • Tapping on the 'three dots' will display an expanded menu with all volumes available for the device
  • In the expanded volume settings, locate Media Volume
  • Tap and slide up on the 'Media Volume' slider
  • This will increase the audio for browser-based video calls

You will now be able to hear your specialist and complete the appointment
