What tools are available in the Ask toolbar?
The Ask toolbar includes quick access to helpful features, including:
- Drug Lookup
- Calculators
- CME
These tools allow you to quickly look up drug information, access common medical calculators and scores, and earn or review CME credit from within Ask.
Using the Ask Toolbar on the Mobile App
In the mobile app, the Ask toolbar can be accessed by tapping the menu icon in the top-left corner.
Using the Ask Toolbar on the Doximity Website
On the Doximity website, the Ask toolbar is located in the left sidebar under Tools.
NOTE: The Calculator feature is only available on the Doximity website and app for iOS.
How do I use Drug Lookup in Ask?
From the Ask toolbar, select Drug Lookup.
You can either:
- Select a drug from the pre-filled list, or
- Enter the name of a generic or brand-name drug
After selecting or searching for a drug, you can review available drug information, including:
- Adult dosing
- Pediatric dosing
- Adverse reactions
- Safety risks
- Administration
- Indications for use
- Specific populations
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Drug interactions
- Advice to patients
You can also enter the name of an additional drug, or multiple drugs, to check for interactions.
How do I use medical calculators in Ask?
NOTE: The Calculator feature is only available on the Doximity website and app for iOS.
From the Ask toolbar, select Calculators.
The calculator tool includes a pre-filled list of common medical calculators and scores.
You can select a calculator from the list or type the name of the calculator or score you are looking for.
Examples of some of the available calculators and scores include:
- BMI Calculator
- CHA₂DS₂-VASc score
- CHADS₂ score
- Child-Pugh score
- CURB-65 score
- HEART score
- FIB-4 Index
- NIH Stroke Scale
- Wells’ criteria

How do I use CME in Ask?
From the Ask toolbar, select CME.
The CME tool includes two tabs:
- Earn
- Submitted
Under the Earn tab, you can browse the CME library, select an article, and read the full topic to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
After reviewing a topic, complete the questionnaire reflecting on your learnings and submit the activity to receive credit.
Under the Submitted tab, you can review CME activities you have already completed, including the topic, credits earned, and claim date.
Select View next to an activity to open an expanded view that includes the activity title, claim date, credits earned, and your responses to the reflection questionnaire.
To generate a summary of your earned CME credits, select Generate transcript in the upper-right corner of the Submitted page.
The generated transcript includes your credit information and a summary of your completed CME activities, but does not include the individual article or topic titles.
