Fax forwarding is now available in the Doximity iOS mobile app.
Users can forward a fax as a new fax or email, or use the Share option to access additional forwarding methods, such as text messaging.
How To Forward A Fax On The iOS App
- To forward a fax from your device, access the Doximity app
- Tap on the Fax button. This will open your Fax Inbox
- Faxes can be forwarded from your fax Inbox, Sent, and Archive
- Tap on the fax you wish to forward. Then tap on Forward at the bottom of the page
- A pop-up menu will appear, allowing you to choose As Fax, As Email, or Share via... (to forward the fax using additional methods, such as via text)
Forwarding As A Fax
- Tap As Fax and enter the recipient’s fax number or name in the To: field at the top of the page
- You’ll then be taken to the fax composition screen to complete your fax.
- If desired, enter text in the Optional cover page text field above the Cover Sheet.
- The content of the fax you are forwarding will be included in your fax as a PDF file
- Below the 'Optional cover page text' section, you will see a preview icon of your forwarded fax PDF file next to your Coversheet and an icon of a box with a blue plus (+) sign
- Tap the box with the blue plus (+) sign to choose another file from your device and add it as an additional attachment to your fax
- Tap the PDF file icon to see a full-sized preview of your forwarded fax document
- While viewing the preview of your forwarded fax, swipe left or right to review all pages of the document
- To make edits to your document, tap Edit at the bottom of the page to enter editing mode
- In editing mode, use the menu located toward the middle right-hand side of the screen to:
- Once you are done editing, tap the blue checkmark in the upper-right corner to Save your changes and return to the file preview screen
- If you wish to exit editing mode without saving your changes, tap the blue X in the upper left-hand corner
- To exit the file preview, tap the blue arrow in the upper-left corner to return to the main fax page
NOTE: If you no longer want to include the forwarded fax PDF file, you can delete it in editing mode by tapping Delete at the bottom of the screen and confirming when prompted.
- When ready, tap on the Arrow icon in the upper-right corner to send your fax
Forwarding As An Email
NOTE: When you forward a fax As Email, your selected email address will be visible to the recipient.
Please choose an email address that you are comfortable disclosing to the recipient.
To protect patient privacy, never send PHI through non-secure email.
- Tap As Email to launch your iOS email client with the forwarded fax included as a PDF attachment
- Enter the recipient’s email address in the To: field.
- The From: field automatically preloads your most frequently used email address.
- Tap your email address to open a pop-up list of all email accounts you’re signed into within the iOS Mail app
- Tap the email address you want to send your message from
- By default, the email subject line displays Doximity Fax. Tap the subject line to edit it if needed
- Tapping on the body of the message will display your device's keyboard, allowing you to include a message with your forwarded attachment
- When ready, tap the blue arrow in the upper-right corner to send your email
Forwarding Using 'Share Via...'
NOTE: Using Share Via... to forward a fax by text will expose your personal phone number to the recipient.
If you prefer to keep your phone number private, save the forwarded fax PDF to your device and attach it to a no-reply message sent through Dialer Text.
To protect patient privacy, never send PHI through your device’s standard text messaging app.
- Tap Share Via… to open the iPhone share menu, where you can choose your preferred method to share your forwarded fax PDF document
- Available sharing options may vary depending on the apps installed on your device. Common options include Text Message, AirDrop, and Notes. Scrolling down reveals additional options such as Print and Save to Files.
- Tap on your preferred sharing method and follow the on-screen prompts to send or save your forwarded fax PDF.
IMPORTANT: Your personal phone number will be visible to the recipient if you use Share Via.. to forward a fax through text message.
- If you prefer not to share your personal phone number, use Dialer Text to send a no-reply message instead.

To avoid disclosing your number, select Save to Files from the share menu, then attach the saved PDF when sending a message through Dialer Text.
