Receiving Phone Calls and Joining Video Appointments

How do I receive a phone call from my healthcare provider?

Your healthcare provider can use Doximity Dialer to call you directly.

When your provider calls, simply answer the incoming phone call as you normally would. You do not need to download the Doximity app or create an account.

How do I join a Dialer Video appointment?

Your healthcare provider will typically send you a video invitation link through a text message.

Tap the link on your smartphone to join your appointment through a supported web browser.

You do not need to download a separate app or create a Doximity account.

Can I join a Dialer Video appointment from my computer?

Yes! Although Dialer Video invitations are typically sent by your healthcare provider via text message, you can also join your appointment using a computer.

For step-by-step instructions, please see How to Join a Dialer Video Call on Your Computer.

Troubleshooting Video Appointments

What should I do if I'm having trouble connecting to a video appointment?

If you're having difficulty connecting to your Dialer Video appointment, please try the following:

  1. Check your internet connection. Make sure your device has a strong, stable Wi-Fi or cellular data connection.
  2. Try rejoining your appointment. If you receive the message "Your internet connection is unstable," leave the video call and try joining again using your invitation link.

For additional recommendations, please see our Tips for Good Call Quality.

What should I do if my camera or microphone isn't working during a video appointment?

To participate in a Dialer Video appointment, you'll need to allow your web browser to access your device's camera and microphone.

If you're experiencing issues, please see How to Enable Camera and Microphone Access.

Why does my video invitation link try to open the Doximity app?

As a patient, you do not need the Doximity app to participate in a Dialer Video appointment.

If the Doximity app is installed on your device, your video invitation link may attempt to open the app instead of your web browser.

To access your appointment, uninstall the Doximity app before opening your invitation link again to join as a patient.

NOTE: This can also affect healthcare professionals who have the Doximity app installed and are attempting to join a Dialer Video appointment as a patient.

Video Appointment Data Usage

How much data does a Dialer Video appointment use?

Doximity Dialer Video uses approximately 22 MB of data per minute.

NOTE: If you're not connected to Wi-Fi, your video appointment will use your device's cellular data. Standard data usage and any applicable carrier charges may apply.
