If you do not receive your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) text message on the first attempt and need to select Retry before the code arrives, this can occur when your phone number is associated with an existing Authy account.
To resolve the issue, you can try either of the following options:
Option 1: Use the Authy App
You can install and set up the Authy app to receive your authentication codes through the app instead of by SMS.
Using Authy can also be helpful when you do not have reliable cellular service.
Option 2: Reset the Authy Account Associated With Your Phone Number
If you prefer to continue receiving your authentication codes by text message, you can initiate an Authy Account Recovery using your phone number.
During the recovery process:
- You will be asked to confirm your email address.
- Devices currently associated with the Authy account will be removed.
- Once recovery is complete, authentication codes will be sent by SMS unless the Authy app is set up again.
NOTE: The Authy account recovery process takes approximately 24 hours.
Do not open the Authy app during the 24-hour recovery period, as doing so will cancel the recovery request.
