  17. When I dial my patient’s number, why does the app show the number as (415) XXX-XXXX?

When you call your patient using Dialer in the Doximity app, the call is transferred to a 415 Doximity phone line. Then, we route the call to your patient. The (415) XXX-XXXX masks your cell phone number and, instead, displays the Caller ID you have chosen. Don't worry, you will still be calling the original phone number you dialed.
  18. Why am I hearing “All circuits are busy”?

If “All Circuits are busy” it means your cell phone provider is unable to connect calls at the moment. It is not because of other users on Doximity Dialer at the same time. After masking your cell phone number, Doximity is no longer involved. When you call your patient using Dialer in the Doximity app, the call is transferred to your mobile phone carrier. Your phone carrier then contacts your patient’s phone carrier. We apologize for this inconvenience and suggest you try calling the patient outside peak hours.
  19. Will patients ever be able to see my phone number?

No, they’ll only see the Call From phone number you’ve selected. Your own mobile number will not be displayed to the recipients.
  20. Can patients see the nickname I give to my phone numbers?

No, these nicknames are only for internal use. They will not be displayed to the recipients of your call - only the phone number will.
  21. How much does Doximity Dialer cost?

Doximity Dialer is currently free for qualifying clinicians. When you use Doximity Dialer, your phone will place a call to our servers using your cellular connection. Like with all phone calls, your carrier usage fees will apply as applicable.

  22. Who can use Doximity Dialer?

Doximity Dialer is currently available to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists and medical students in the United States. Other clinicians working with a physician in the United States may join that physician's Doximity Care Team and receive access to Doximity Dialer.

To get started, follow this guide.

  23. I keep getting a “We are unable to complete your call" message

Go to Dialer > Settings > This Device Number. The number under This Device Number needs to be your mobile number. If the number you enter is NOT your mobile phone number (the number of the device on which you're using Dialer), you will not be able to use Dialer. We ask that you enter your mobile phone number in order for us to successfully allow you to user Dialer from your phone. Please note: Your cell phone number is never shared when you use Dialer to call patients.

  24. How do I set my caller ID setting so my number is not private/blocked?

On most phones, you can find this option by following the steps below. If these steps do not work for you, you will need to contact your phone carrier.

    • For iOS:
      • Open your iPhone Settings
      • Tap Phone
      • Tap Show My Caller ID
      • Set Show My Caller ID to ON
    • For Android:

      • Open the menu by tapping More (3-dots icon) in the top right corner of the screen
      • Tap Settings from the menu that appears
      • Tap Calls
      • Tap Additional Settings
      • Tap on Caller ID
      • Select Show number
  25. Can I get calls back on this number?

Calls returned to you will be routed directly to the Caller ID number you choose. At this time, we do not provide temporary call-back numbers but it is something we are considering for future releases.

  26. What about a permanent number, like Google Voice?

Doximity Dialer is not meant to be a full-service phone number replacement, rather a way to make calls from a specific phone number in special cases.

  27. How do I choose what numbers I can use?

Open the Doximity app > Tap Dialer on the bottom menu > tap Settings > tap Add New Caller ID

  28. Can I text using the Doximity app?

We are working on a One-Way Texting feature to allow you to send no-reply texts to patients without displaying your cell phone number. The feature is currently in beta and only available to those who are part of Doximity's Beta Program.

Learn about the One-Way Texting feature or to join Doximity's Beta Program.

  29. Does this app use my data connection for phone calls? (might also ask: does it use voice over IP/VOIP)

No, Dialer in the Doximity app places calls using your phone’s cellular connection. You must have a cellular signal in order to use the app.

  30. Can I make international calls with Doximity?

Dialer in the Doximity app only supports calls to and from U.S. phone numbers.

    • Install and log into Epic Haiku

  32. Does Dialer support calls over WiFi?

Calls made through Dialer in the Doximity app use your phone's default call app. If you have separately setup your phone to allow calls over wifi, such as is available on the iPhone on Verizon, AT&T and others, WiFi calling work as it does with any call placed with your default phone app. Please note that any normal roaming or other charges will apply as if you were placing a normal voice call.
