Troubleshooting Questions

Why can't I call the same number I use as my Caller ID?

Dialer does not support calls made to the phone number selected as your Caller ID.

If you attempt to call that number, you will receive an error indicating that calls to and from the same number are not supported.

Why does a different phone number appear on my phone when I place a Dialer call?

This can occur when Use Internet to Place Calls is turned off.

Dialer uses a Doximity relay phone line to connect your call to the patient. The unfamiliar number displayed on your phone is the relay number used to place the call.

The patient will still be called at the phone number you designated as your caller ID.

Can patients call my cell phone through Dialer?

No. Dialer is designed for outbound calls and does not provide inbound calling or call forwarding.

When you place a call through Dialer, you can display your office number as the Caller ID instead of exposing your personal mobile number.

If the patient calls that office number back, the call will go to your office phone system. It will not be forwarded to your personal cell phone through Dialer.

I entered my personal number as my Caller ID. How do I fix it?

Dialer is designed to keep your personal mobile number private by displaying another Caller ID number, such as your office number, when calling patients.

Your personal mobile number should be listed as your Device Number, not as one of your Caller IDs.

Your Device Number will never be displayed to patients.

Why am I hearing an "All circuits are busy" message?

An "All circuits are busy" message indicates that your phone carrier is unable to connect the call at that time.

It does not mean that too many people are using Doximity Dialer.

When Dialer places a call using your mobile phone service, the call is transferred to your mobile carrier, which then connects with the patient's carrier.

If you hear this message, please try placing the call again later outside peak hours.

Why does Dialer tell me to remove my Caller ID block?

Dialer requires your device's Caller ID settings to allow the Caller ID you selected in Dialer to be transmitted when establishing the call.

If your number is configured as private or blocked, Dialer will prompt you to change this setting.

On most phones, you can update this setting by following the steps below.

However, settings differ between Android devices and mobile carriers.

If you cannot locate your Caller ID settings using these steps, please contact your mobile carrier for assistance.
