How to Use Doximity Ask With Scribe Notes

Doximity Ask brings clinical intelligence directly into your Scribe note.

From the Ask panel, you can ask clinical questions, review information from the visit, request edits to your note, or use Quick Edit options to make common changes with a single click.

NOTE: The Quick Edits feature is only available on the Doximity Website.

Accessing Your Notes

  • On the Scribe home page, you’ll see a list on the left-hand side of all your current Scribe notes.

  • Each note shows the date of creation, the time until expiration, and its title.

  • Select the note you would like to review.

  • Once the note is open, Doximity Ask will appear in the panel on the right side of the screen.

NOTE: If you have not added a title, your note will be automatically assigned one based on the weekday and time it was created.

  • To edit a note, select it from the left-hand side of the page.

Using Doximity Ask

Doximity Ask uses your Scribe note and data from your transcription to help you edit and refine your notes.

You can use Doximity Ask to:

  • Ask a clinical question
  • Review information from the visit
  • Request an edit or other change to your Scribe note
  • Use a Quick Edit to make common note changes

To enter your own request, type your question or instruction into the text field at the bottom of the Doximity Ask panel.

Asking Clinical Questions and Accessing Additional Transcript Information

While reviewing your Scribe note, you can enter a clinical question directly into the Doximity Ask text field.

Doximity Ask can use the context of your visit to help answer questions related to the encounter, allowing you to review relevant clinical information without leaving the Scribe page.

You can also use Doximity Ask to ask questions about information discussed during your Scribe visit.

Doximity Ask can reference both your generated note and the original visit transcript, giving you access to relevant details that may not have been included in your selected note format or template.

For example, if the patient mentioned a preferred pharmacy during the visit but it was not included in the generated note, you could enter “Add the patient’s preferred pharmacy to the plan.”

Ask can then reference the original transcript and add that information to the note.

Requesting Changes to Your Note

You can also use the Doximity Ask text field to request a specific change to your Scribe note.

Enter instructions describing the change you would like to make. For example:

  • “Add the patient’s reported medication side effects to the assessment.”
  • “Update the plan to use bullet points.”
  • “Move the medication information to the Assessment and Plan section.”
  • “Reorganize the note so the assessment and plan are grouped by diagnosis.”
  • “Change the wording in the HPI to reflect that the symptoms began two weeks ago.”

Using specific, targeted instructions will help Doximity Ask understand the change you would like to make.

Using Quick Edit Options

For common note changes, you can select one of the Quick Edit options located above the Doximity Ask text field.

Available Quick Edit options include:

  • More Concise – Shortens the note while preserving the relevant clinical information
  • More Detailed – Expands the note with additional relevant detail
  • Add Billing Codes – Adds relevant billing codes to the note
  • Update Pronouns – Updates pronouns used throughout the note
  • Guideline Check – Reviews your note against relevant clinical guidelines, highlights potential gaps in care or documentation and opportunities for follow-up, and provides supporting recommendations and sources.

Selecting a Quick Edit allows you to request one of these common changes without manually entering instructions into the text field.

Reviewing Changes to Your Note

When Doximity Ask generates an edit, you will need to review the suggested changes before applying them to your note.

  • Scribe will regenerate a preview of your note with the Quick Edit highlighted to make them more visible.

    • Additions will be highlighted in green

    • Removals will be highlighted in red with a strikethrough

  • Click Accept to apply the change, or Reject to revert to your original note without saving the change.

NOTE: You must accept or reject the current change before proceeding with further edits

  • Upon clicking Accept, Scribe will disable the highlights and seamlessly incorporate and save the changes made to your note.
